The Palworld Official Card Game Is Coming — And It's Worth Your Attention

If you've been sleeping on the Palworld Official Card Game, now's the time to wake up. Preorders are live for the debut set, Dawn of Palpagos, landing 30th July 2026 — and it might just be the most interesting new TCG launch of the year.

What is the Palworld TCG?

Palworld — the open-world creature-catching survival game that took the internet by storm in early 2024 — is getting its own official trading card game, published by Bushiroad (the team behind Cardfight!! Vanguard and Weiß Schwarz). This isn't a rushed cash-grab; Bushiroad know how to build a TCG.

The game is a two-player competitive card game where you deploy Pals to battle, equip them with Gear cards, assign them to Structure cards, and outmanoeuvre your opponent. It brings the base-building and creature-collecting identity of the video game into the card format in a genuinely interesting way — this isn't just Pokémon with different art.

The Card Types

The Main Deck contains four card types: Pal Cards (your creatures), Gear Cards (equipment), Event Cards (instants/spells, essentially), and Structure Cards (persistent board effects). Alongside this sits a Soul Deck, which contains Soul Cards — a separate resource system that adds another layer of strategy.

You choose up to two colours from Red, Blue, Green, and Purple to build a 50-card deck, with Colourless cards available to any build. It's a clean, accessible structure for new players while leaving room for competitive depth.

Why It's Worth Considering as a Pokémon Alternative

Let's be honest — the Pokémon comparison is unavoidable, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. The Pals are designed with the same kind of broad appeal as Pokémon: cute, varied, with clear fan favourites already established from the video game. Jetragon (the legendary dragon, essentially Palworld's Charizard), Necromus, Shadowbeak, and the adorable Lamball already have huge fanbases waiting to collect them as cards.

For players priced out of Pokémon's secondary market, this is genuinely exciting. With an RRP of £3.80 per pack and £18 per trial deck, Dawn of Palpagos is accessible in a way that Pokémon hasn't been for years. The trial decks are ready to play straight out of the box — no singles market required to get started.

And for those who've enjoyed Japanese Pokémon sets for the artwork quality? The Palworld TCG features entirely original, exclusive illustrations across every card type. Looking at the previewed card art, the quality is seriously impressive.

What to Expect from Dawn of Palpagos

The debut set introduces the full four-colour system alongside both trial decks — Red & Blue and Green & Purple — giving you a complete two-player experience from day one. The booster packs will expand your options for building around specific strategies and, of course, chasing the rarer Pal cards.

With all-new exclusive artwork and Bushiroad's track record for print quality, the cards themselves should be collectable regardless of whether you're planning to play competitively.
